Similar MVC set up, but with far more modularity and more FP with Elixir. Going back to my earlier comment, this is why I've since switched to Phoenix. I will say that you have to really work to keep a Rails app maintainable and not just another big blob of MVC code. I also agree with your comments on the lack of modularity in Rails.

(Not that Rails doesn't have semver issues of its own, but the Ruby ecosystem is at least mostly mature and stable). My only hesitation there is the NPM ecosystem with its security issues and complete unwillingness on the part of the community to follow anything resembling sane semver. I haven't worked with Express enough to have formed real opinions on it it's been a minute since I've done anything with it, and I'm sure it's come a long way. Pure FP language with a very Ruby-esque syntax and an accompanying killer web app framework (Phoenix). Honestly I think the lack of FP is a huge driver for devs leaving Ruby behind, and a big driver for the rise of Elixir. The lack of first class functions and their replacement with not one but THREE types of different closures(making for FOUR different things that act like functions) was a fundamental mistake.
